Tribal Seahorse Betel Nut Lime Container Vintage Sumatran Bronze Indonesian Art

$ 698.00

Tribal Primitive Sumatran Seahorse Betel Nut Lime Container, hand cast in bronze by the lost wax method by talented crafts people of Indonesia. The graceful lines have a beautiful ethnic tribal flair. The tail end of this unique container opens to reveal a container for storing betel nut lime.  Human figures sit along the neck of the Seahorse, with another on the tail and tucked under the mouth. Lizards decorate each side of the tail portion. The bronze was a lovely green verdigris patina. This is in the primitive style that you would find in North East Sumatra near lake Toba , from the Batak Tribal people.

An impressive display piece. This lovely sculpture is sure to please the collector of Asian or Indonesian art. Beautiful decorator piece on a side table or shelf as part of your eclectic decor.
