This is an older mask early 20th century of a very large Barong Mask from East Java. There are signs of age to the paint & wood which are consistent with the age, but over all intact please see photos and review them. The opening of the mask is edged with a strip of cloth with sequins hand sewn onto the edge forming a fringe. There is one handle on the top and one on the bottom for the dancer to chop the jaws up and down.
The mask has both traditional Indonesian, animistic & Chinese design influences.
