Fine old Wayang Panel Keris Board Shadow Puppet Wall Art Java Indonesia 39"

Wonderful Wayang folk art panel from East Java, carved in the teak wood. The subject is carved in the Wayang Shadow puppet style of Panji the Prince from Janggala. Panji is the legendary Prince who is the inspiration for many folk tales that have spread throughout Indonesia in the form of Mask (Topeng) dancing, shadow puppet plays and drama.

This is an older panel colors are still bright and not muddy but shows signs of wear and paint loss consistent with the age, adding to the beautiful patina of this artwork.
