A Bloomin’ Business That Takes You to Bali
Getting anyone to pull out of the heavy summer traffic on Rt 3 in Trenton to stop and browse must not be easy, but Acadia World Traders (438 Bar Harbor Road) makes it very attractive in more than one way. Specializing in Balinese art and handicrafts, owners Debra Vogler and Ramon Fnu display pieces of art outside their business, but they set the art off with a beautiful showing of landscaped and potted plants that feature and celebrate the colors and vibrancy of life in Bali. Vogler & Fnu have chosen vividly colored annuals and perennials like zinnias, verbena, callabrachoa, dailyness, sedum and hardy chrysanthemums. Their thumbergia, which can be difficult to grow and maintain, is especially spectacular this year vining its way around the entrance and windows.
At the end of August and the beginning of September the plantings that really shine are those that have received constant care throughout the summer, and the Ellsworth Garden Club along with its partners the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce and media sponsor Star 97.7 want to compliment Vogler and Fnu for placing a priority on making their patch of Rt 3 so attractive. Maine may not enjoy a Balinese climate, but the lushness of the plantings at Acadia World Traders evokes a little bit of that world for us during the summer at least and it richly deserves its designation as the Bloomin’ Business of the Week.
I see Bali in My future.... November 14, 2014 10:47
A Snowy Day in Maine....
Summer barely over, I awoke this morning to a blanket of fluffy white covering the newly naked tree branches in our garden here in Maine. Though beautiful, I rejoice at the fact that in a few short weeks my family & I will be heading out to lush Bali and her beautiful green rice fields, for yet another winter of the warmth of Bali and the Balinese people.
Days like this remind me of how lucky I am, to spend my life in two of the most beautiful places in the world.
The contrast is amazing! I guess I am a lucky duck!
Really looking forward to hunting, gathering, picking and designing new treasures for our shop. It is always an adventure!
